Medication Dispensers

Quality Life Products recognizes that Medication Management can be a significant problem for the demographic group that we serve. We therefore offer a number of technologies designed to aid the individual with medication compliance.

MD.2 Automated Medication Dispenser

MD.2 is our top-of-the-line Monitored Automatic Dispenser for Medications (pills) and Reminder System (non-oral meds). It holds up to 60 doses and is capable of dispensing up to 6 times per day.
The MD.2 provides multiple reminders and alerts to signal medication times including voice and text messages and a visual light. The MD.2 also features a locked cabinet, so medications cannot be accessed incorrectly.

  • Medication Cups are comfortable to hold and have secure lids to prevent spills. Each reusable cup can hold 20 - 25 pills and supplements. As many as six cups/doses can be delivered per day.
  • Dispensing Button is designed for seniors' special needs. Easy to see and feel, it is conveniently over sized and requires only a gentle push for one button dispensing.
  • Medications Reminders announce each dose in a clear, loud voice and tone (volume is adjustable), plus a text message and a flashing red light. Special instructions such as "take with food" can
    also be programmed.
  • Locking Storage Compartment allows MD.2 to be
    pre-loaded with a maximum of 60 medication
cups. The locking compartment keeps medications safe and in order.
  • Keypad is designed for easy set-up and is located in the locked medication compartment to prevent accidental changes or tampering.
  • Battery back-up system provides alternate power for up to 18 hours.

One of the most important features of the MD.2 is its built-in monitoring capability. The MD.2 unit is directly connected via a phone line to the Support Center. If medications are not dispensed after multiple reminders, caregivers are automatically called. Dispensing activity can also be viewed on-line via a secure web site.
Staffed by trained personnel, the Support Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer questions and provide technical help.

MedReady Automated Medication Dispenser

The carousel pill tray has 28 compartments that can be filled with medication. Each compartment is 1" x .5' x .75" and can hold pills of different sizes and combinations of sizes. When the alarm sounds, the tray rotates allowing access to the medication in the next compartment. If you use one daily alarm, the tray is good for 28 days of medication dispensing.

Features:

  • Two alarms daily = two weeks worth of
    medication.
  • Three alarms daily = 9 days of medications.
  • Four alarms daily = one week's worth of
    medication.
  • If you miss a medication time, the tray will
advance at the next scheduled alarm.
  • This will prevent double dosing and
    medication errors.
  • Features an AC power backup and comes
with rechargeable batteries that will last up
    to 72 hours.
  • A locking cover provides a tamper proof secure dispenser.
  • Measures 11 inches in diameter.
  • One-year manufacturer warranty.

MedReady Automated Medication Dispenser (with modem)

These units have a built-in-modem that communicates with the Internet. The dispenser functions the same as the basic MedReady dispenser, and an active phone line is also plugged into the unit modem.

If the patient is non-compliant (does not open the medication door within the programmed time), a signal is sent from the unit to the website. The website then places an automated phone call to the patient. A recorded message is played and the patient is required to enter a one-digit code on their touch-tone phone.

If the patient is non-responsive the website places a computer generated call to the listed caregiver. A recorded message is played and the caregiver is requested to press a single digit code to verify they have received the message.

The caregiver can also access a report of activity from the website. The report includes alarm times, medication taken times plus records of any non-compliance, mechanical issues or AC power outages of over 24 hours.

Website information can be combined for a group of patients if there is an overseeing nurse responsible for several patients. All website access is controlled by password protection.
